The sun filtering through the tree branches, the sound of the wind among the rocks: the Path of the Seven Stones enveloped me in a magical and evocative atmosphere from the very first step. This trail connects the villages of Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano. It’s not just a simple hiking path but a journey through words, symbols, and breathtaking landscapes.

The seven stones scattered along the way are not mere stones but custodians of stories and secrets. Each one represents a piece of the story “Vito danced with witches” by Mimmo Sammartino, which inspires the path.

Destiny, enchantment, spell, witches, flight, dance, delirium: keywords that echo among the rocks, gradually revealing the essence of the story.

The first stone, destiny, at the entrance of the path, immediately catapulted me into the intertwining lives I would encounter along the way. A reminder of the inescapable destiny that binds the protagonists, an invisible thread weaving the narrative.

Continuing, immersed in lush vegetation, I came across the second stone: enchantment. Its presence emanated a magnetic charm, as if the village of Pietrapertosa and its people were whispering ancient secrets to me.

Arriving at the third stone, near an old fountain, I sensed an aura of mystery. Spell: a word hovering in the air, foreshadowing the magical events I would experience within the pages of the story.

The central stone, witches, located at a panoramic point with a breathtaking view, was dedicated to the enigmatic female figures populating the story.

Proceeding towards the ravine, the fifth stone evoked the idea of freedom: flight. A longing for escape reflecting the aspirations of the protagonist Vito, seeking a life beyond the borders of his village.

In a sunny clearing, the sixth stone invited me to rejoice in life. Dance: a word encapsulating the carefree happiness that characterized Vito before the dramatic events that disrupted his existence.

The last stone, at the entrance of Castelmezzano, marked the end of my journey. Delirium: a word encapsulating Vito’s descent into madness, the consequence of the tragic events he had experienced.

Each stone, beyond its symbolic meaning, was framed by a metal structure bearing the keyword and a passage from the story. A perfect blend of art and literature that made my journey a unique and engaging experience.

But the Path of the Seven Stones is not just a journey through words and symbols. It is also an immersion in the unspoiled beauty of the Lucanian Dolomites. Breathtaking panoramas opened up before me, offering unforgettable views.

A path suitable for everyone, both adults and children. Get ready to be enveloped by the magic of this place, where reality and fantasy intertwine in perfect harmony.
